Budapest’s First Rubber Duckie Race!

Remember that old song that Ernie sang on Sesame Street called “Rubbie Duckie”? Believe it or not, back in the early 70s, it sold over a million copies! Well, I wonder if I can find it in Hungarian. Next week, I’ll need it! On August 31, thousands of yellow bathroom toys will race down the Danube, starting at Margit Bridge, in Budapest’s first ever Rubber Duck Race. I can’t wait to see that!

My Hungarian Rubber Duckie!

Proceeds will go to support Unicef. The event has already taken place in London, Taiwan, and Singapore. To take part, you have to buy a duck from one of the duck points, or online, and get it to a collection point by August 25. For more information, click here. The site’s written in Hungarian. But even if you can’t read it, it’s worth a look. The graphics are cute. Maybe I’ll write to them and suggest that they play “Rubber Duckie” while viewers scan through the site. They might not even know the song exists. Dang! Now, I can’t get that tune out of my head!
