“I’m as corny as Kansas in August!” Such go Oscar Hammerstein’s famous lyrics from the classic American musical South Pacific. Well, those words might just as well be in the Hungarian national anthem!
Recently I visited an outdoor fair and flea market near the Hungarian border where I discovered food stalls full of steaming corn on the cob! It’s fair food over here, and the Hungarians love it! In the States, people walk around country fairs trying to keep the pickle relish from falling out of their hot dogs. In Hungary, they walk around picking corn out of their teeth.
After passing the food stalls, I entered the flea market area. And guess what the first thing I saw was. A pitcher — in the shape of CORN!
